Zak grew up in the eastern suburbs of Perth around Midland, attending Woodlupine Primary School in Forrestfield and Governor Stirling Senior High School in West Midland. Zak's father’s side is Yamatji and his mum was born in NZ. Zak has served as the 35th Leader of the Opposition in Western Australia, Leader of the Liberal Party and was the Member for Dawesville from 2017 - 2021. Post-politics and now in business Zak co-founded Kolbang, a licensed electrical contractor and registered building company which currently employs 45+ Aboriginal Australians.
